    It's been a wonderful 23/24 school year so far and we can't wait to meet all the new 24/25 students!

    Welcome to Vernon Barford’s website, and thank you for your interest in our school. The core purpose of our school is to
    a) Ensure learning and b) Promote positive development of the whole child. 

    We offer Regular and Gifted & Talented programming at all three grade levels, and our school is home to approximately 800 students in grades 7 through 9. We continue to have a proud tradition of providing excellence and opportunity in academics and various extracurricular activities.

    Planning for the 2024-25 School Year:

    Please note that the Grade 7 Orientation will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, from 8:00 am until 11:30 am.

    The open house for potential Vernon Barford students looking to attend in 2024-25 will be held on January 30, 2024, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

    Registration for the 2024-25 school year opens on February 1, 2024.

    Families can pre-register through SchoolZone beginning on Thursday, February 1, at 8 a.m. Families must make their selection for the 2024-25 school year before Friday, March 22, at 4 p.m.

    If you are new to Edmonton Public Schools, you must register online.

    The 2023-24 School Year:

    For the 2023-24, Vernon Barford School is full in all Grades 7, 8, and 9 programs. Therefore, we will now only accept resident students in Grades 7, 8, and 9 who have newly moved into Vernon Barford School’s attendance area and Dr. Margaret Ann Armour School’s attendance area for the Regular Program. A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic. Non-resident students can enroll in another division school with space for planned classes.

This marks an exhilarating time as we commence a fresh school year brimming with hope and optimism. To our new students, welcome aboard! I share your eagerness to explore the wonders of this remarkable year. To our returning students, I look forward to continuing to build connections with each of you and offering unwavering support as you navigate through your Junior High experience.

The dedicated staff at Vernon Barford eagerly anticipates an exceptional school year ahead, working hand-in-hand with our school community to ensure success for every student.
